Frequently Asked Questions

Medicare

You may be eligible to claim a proportion of the fees from Medicare (up to 20 sessions during the COVID-19 pandemic). To do this, you will need to make an appointment with your GP, who will complete an assessment as to whether you are suffering from a condition that is rebatable by Medicare, and provide you with a Mental Health Care Plan. We will need a copy of this Plan to process the rebate.

What Do Clinical & Non-Clinical Psychologists Do?

All of our clinicians are registered psychologists and have post-graduate qualifications in clinical and / or forensic psychology. LSC Psychology clinicians are accredited with a range of bodies, including; the Australian Psychological Society, NSW Children’s Commission, Child Sex Offender Counsellor Accreditation Scheme, Australia and New Zealand Association of Psychology, Psychiatry and the Law, The Australian and New Zealand Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abuse, the NSW Victims Compensation Tribunal, and the Children’s Court Clinic.

Clinical psychologists have completed specialist post-graduate training at university. They specialise in the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of a wide range of psychological issues and conditions, including that pertaining to mental illness, mood disorders, substance abuse, and personality disorders. Our clinical psychologists provide a range of evidence-based treatments, which are conventionally considered to be more efficacious than general supportive counselling.

We also have a number of consultants who assist us, particularly in the areas of psychiatry and neuropsychology, as well as associate clinicians who provide assessment and treatment services.

All of our clinicians’ Curriculum Vitaes are available for download under ‘Our Consultants’, however if you require a more detailed copy, please contact the clinician directly.

If you would like to know more about psychologists, please visit the website of the Australian Psychological Society, or the Australian Clinical Psychology Association. You could also contact the Psychology Board of Australia
