Katie Martens
Katie is a registered psychologist holding a Master’s Degree in Forensic Psychology, with training in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).
She is a member of the Australian Psychological Society and maintains membership with the Australian and New Zealand Association for the Treatment of Sexual Abuse (ANZATSA). Katie has had lengthy experience in the treatment and assessment of adolescent sexually harmful behaviours, violence and aggression. She has assessed and provided intervention for adolescents who have diagnosed intellectual or developmental delays and also those whom have had normative development. Katie has a particular interest in working with families in supporting positive parenting practices and in behaviour support planning.
Katie has experience working across a variety of community forensic settings, including the Out of Home Care sector working with adolescents whom have been identified as having high and complex needs and with complex trauma presentations. Within this setting, Katie has also designed and facilitated training for direct care workers on understanding the impact of cumulative trauma and on understanding and working with adolescent sexually harmful behaviour. Katie also has experience working as a member of a multidisciplinary team with mothers experiencing mental illness and difficulties managing the demands of parenting, and with adults on community corrections orders presenting with an assortment of mental health and forensic needs.
